Cutler Bay Mayor Tim Meerbott will deliver his final State of the Town Address on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay, less than a week before voters choose his successor.

Meerbott, who is completing his second term as mayor, cannot seek reelection because of term limits.

The address, themed "Small Town, Big Future," begins at 6 p.m. at 10701 SW 211th St. A reception will follow, with the event scheduled to end at 9 p.m., according to the town's event announcement.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, except for sponsors. Residents must RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 21, by emailing [email protected] and including the number of people attending.

Meerbott said he plans to highlight the town's accomplishments and initiatives from the past year and "give insight into the bright future ahead," according to Community Newspapers.

Four candidates compete to succeed Meerbott

Meerbott's departure comes as four candidates compete to become Cutler Bay's next mayor in the Nov. 3 municipal election.

Council members Robert "B.J." Duncan and Suzy Lord face builder Ricardo De Melo Gomes and technology and entertainment entrepreneur Clint Rodriguez, according to Political Cortadito.

Duncan, who has represented Council Seat 1 since 2018, is also term-limited from seeking reelection to his current position. Lord, who holds Seat 2, is required to resign that seat to pursue the mayor's office.

The town's election information confirms that the mayor's position and two council seats will be on the November ballot.

Mayor reflects on two decades of service

Meerbott served on Cutler Bay's founding Town Council after the community incorporated in 2005. He later became mayor in 2018 and won reelection in 2022.

In an interview with the South Dade News Leader, Meerbott reflected on how the community had changed.

"We have more than doubled in population since we incorporated," he said. "I think the most surprising aspect has been that, in spite of the change and growth, we were able to maintain our sense of community."

He identified Legacy Park as one of the projects he hopes will define his tenure, envisioning it as a central gathering place comparable to New York City's Central Park.

During his 2024 State of the Town Address, Meerbott highlighted a 34% increase in property values over several years and the town's property tax rate of $2.88833 per $1,000 of taxable value. He described the rate as one of the lowest among Miami-Dade County municipalities, according to [Community Newspapers](https://communitynewspapers.com/cutler-bay/mayor-h
