Mary Ann Mixon is seeking a return to Cutler Bay’s Town Council, with traffic, responsible development and flood protection at the center of her campaign for Seat 1.

In an Oct. 2 candidate questionnaire published by the South Dade News Leader, Mixon said she served in Seat 1 from 2010 to 2018 and is running again after an eight-year break.

She identified infrastructure as her first priority, calling for stormwater improvements, engineering-driven flood projects and efforts to secure federal grants. She also favors traffic-calming measures and growth that protects existing neighborhoods.

Mixon cited her earlier work on school-zone safety, environmental issues and the town’s floodplain committee as experience she would bring back to office. Those descriptions of her record are her own account in the questionnaire.

She also supports local decision-making authority and said she would remain accessible through phone calls, email and neighborhood meetings.

The Town Clerk lists Mixon among three qualified candidates for Seat 1 in the Nov. 3 election, alongside Ricky Fernandez and James Richie Hawkins. The seat is open because Robert “B.J.” Duncan is term-limited in that office.
