Twenty-eight new Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters reported to stations across the county on Monday, July 20, marking the first active-duty shift for Recruit Class 160.
The department announced the milestone on its verified X account, confirming that Class 160 members officially began serving at stations countywide. Their deployment came four days after the class graduated Thursday, July 16, at the MDFR Training Facility at 9300 NW 41st St. in Doral.
Fire Chief Ray Jadallah, who pinned badges on the graduates during the ceremony, said in a press release that the recruits "worked tirelessly to prepare for this moment" and would now "put their training into action while serving and protecting the community of Miami-Dade County."
The 28 graduates completed the department's fire academy and specialized emergency response training before earning their badges. MDFR has not released individual station assignments, so it is not confirmed how many, if any, of the new firefighters were placed at local stations.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue operates roughly 72 stations countywide and serves 29 municipalities, according to the department's fiscal year 2025-26 business plan. Five of those stations cover Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay:
