Road closures and detours remain in effect on SW 141 Terrace in Palmetto Bay as Miami-Dade County's water main installation stretches more than six weeks past its original completion date.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department is installing a new 8-inch water main, water services and fire hydrants along SW 141 Terrace between SW 72 Avenue and SW 74 Court. The work was originally scheduled to wrap up by July 10 but is still active, according to a village alert posted Sunday, Aug. 23.

The Village of Palmetto Bay warned drivers to expect temporary road closures and detours during active construction hours, though specific detour routes and work schedules have not been published.

The SW 141 Terrace project is not the only one running long. A parallel water main installation on SW 178 Street and SW 178 Terrace, between SW 93 Avenue and SW 94 Avenue, was originally scheduled to finish by July 7 and also remains underway with its own closures and detours, according to a separate village notice.

Both projects involve the same scope of work: 8-inch water mains, new water services and fire hydrants in residential stretches of Palmetto Bay.
