Three South Dade sites will host shoreline cleanups Saturday, Sept. 19, as part of the 41st International Coastal Cleanup.
Black Point Marina, Deering Estate and Deering Point are among more than 70 locations across Miami-Dade County participating in the annual event, according to Miami-Dade County. The Ocean Conservancy coordinates the global effort, while VolunteerCleanup.org manages local registration and logistics.
The Black Point Marina cleanup is organized under the banner "Team USCG," partnering with the U.S. Coast Guard. Deering Estate, the county heritage park at 16701 SW 72nd Ave. in Palmetto Bay, has two separate registration options: one for the main grounds and another for the People's Dock. Deering Point sits at 17350 Old Cutler Road.
Registration is required.
Volunteers can sign up through VolunteerCleanup.org.
Previous cleanups at Deering Point collected more than 100 pounds of trash each, according to the Village of Palmetto Bay's Keep Palmetto Bay Beautiful page. That program held cleanups at the same site in October 2025 and May 2026.
The village is also running its own cleanup at Ludovici Park, 17641 Old Cutler Road, on the same day, co-hosted with VolunteerCleanup.org and Miami-Dade County. Cutler Bay has a separate event focused on the Coastal Ridge Preserve, where volunteers will remove debris and invasive vegetation and plant native species, according to the town's parks department.
Start times were not listed on the registration pages as of Aug. 28. Volunteers should check VolunteerCleanup.org for event-specific details including time, what to bring and capacity.
