Cutler Bay is recruiting volunteers to clear trash, pull invasive plants and plant native species at Coastal Ridge Preserve on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The free event is runs 9 a.m. to noon at the preserve, 18445 Old Cutler Road. Advance registration is required through the town's parks and recreation page.

The day is part of the 41st International Coastal Cleanup, which the Town of Cutler Bay calls the world's largest one-day volunteer effort for oceans and waterways. Volunteers will remove debris and invasive vegetation from the preserve, then plant native species to help the habitat recover.

The town advises volunteers to wear closed shoes, bring a water bottle and dress for sun, according to South Dade Spotlight.

Palmetto Bay residents can pitch in the same day without crossing town lines. The Village of Palmetto Bay is co-hosting a separate International Coastal Cleanup event at Ludovici Park, 17641 Old Cutler Road, alongside Volunteer Cleanup and Miami-Dade County, according to the village's website. Registration for that event is available at volunteercleanup.org.

Palmetto Bay launched its Keep Palmetto Bay Beautiful program after becoming an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Florida Beautiful on April 6. Previous cleanups at Deering Point on Oct. 18, 2025, and May 16 collected more than 100 pounds of trash each.
