Forty Cutler Bay middle schoolers who have spent six weeks building and programming robots will open their doors to the public on Saturday, July 25, at the town's annual STEM Camp Robotics Exhibition.

The event takes place at the Council Chambers at Cutler Bay Town Center, 10720 Caribbean Blvd.

The exhibition is the finale of the town's Careers in STEM Summer Camp, which began Monday, June 15, and runs through Thursday, July 24, according to the town's Parks and Recreation program page. Students entering grades 6 through 8 in the 2025-26 school year have been learning to build and program VEX IQ robots, with the opportunity to earn an Introduction to Robotics Certification from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Academy.

The Children's Trust funds the camp at no cost to families. Registration filled before the session started.

What past exhibitions looked like

The town has not released a schedule or format for the July 25 event. In past years, according to Community Newspapers coverage, campers put their robots through races, dances and audience interactions at the exhibition. The event has also included an award ceremony, snacks and refreshments, according to the town's 2025 exhibition page.

The town has historically partnered with Miami Dade College instructors to teach the engineering and programming curriculum.

How to get involved

Residents interested in attending, sponsoring or vending at the exhibition can contact Maria Herrera-Mendoza at [email protected] or (786) 459-7389.
