Palmetto Bay residents looking to turn Florida native plants into art can do exactly that Saturday at the Deering Estate, where a hands-on natural dye and paint workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 16701 SW 72nd Ave., Palmetto Bay.
Artists-in-Residence Aida Tejada and Debora Rosental lead the beginner-friendly session at the estate's Pump House. Participants learn to prepare plant-based paints, mix color formulas and create a personalized piece using stencils and hand-applied pigments. All materials are included, and everyone takes home their finished work. The series is supported by Miami-Dade County.
Tickets are $20 on Eventbrite. The workshop is open to ages 12 and up.
The Aug. 8 session is part of a recurring series the two artists have led at the Deering Estate; a prior session ran May 23.
