Four Documentaries Explore American Stories
The Miami Short Film Festival and the Deering Estate are co-presenting "Focus On: Celebrating our Nation's 250th Birthday," an 89-minute program featuring documentaries about Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope studio, humpback whale conservation in Alaska, six brothers who went from migrant farm laborers to Regional Mexican musicians, and the Artemis-1 rocket launch.
The lineup includes "The Bohemian Filmmaker," directed by Isaac Netherton; "Hello Whale," by Kate Fleming and Darian Woehr; "Migrating Música: The West Texas Boys," by Adán Peña; and "Space Coast," by Justin Barber. The screening is part of the festival's year-round "Focus On" series; the Miami Short Film Festival's 25th annual edition runs Friday, Nov. 13, through Sunday, Nov. 15.
Tickets, Timing and Age Restrictions
Doors and a cocktail reception open at 7 p.m. The screening begins promptly at 8 p.m. at 16701 SW 72nd Ave. in Palmetto Bay. Tickets are $20 general admission or $16 for students, seniors and military personnel. Parking is free in the Visitor Center lot on SW 168th Street, just west of 72nd Avenue.
