Rene Gomez won Cutler Bay's Seat 3 outright on Nov. 3, defeating incumbent Richard Ramirez with 53.03% of the vote. Two other town races head to Tuesday, Dec. 1, runoffs.

Unofficial returns from the Miami-Dade County Elections Department, first reported by the South Dade News Leader, show Gomez collected 7,268 votes to Ramirez's 6,437. Gomez was the only candidate across Cutler Bay's three races to clear the majority threshold needed to avoid a runoff.

As we reported Nov. 5, both the Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay mayoral races are heading to second rounds. Here is the full council picture for Cutler Bay voters.

Seat 1: Mixon vs. Fernandez

The Seat 1 contest also goes to a runoff. Mary Ann Mixon finished first with 6,101 votes (43.64%). Ricky Fernandez placed second at 5,057 votes (36.18%). James Richie Hawkins received 2,821 votes (20.18%).

Mixon and Fernandez will face off Dec. 1.

Mayor: Lord vs. Duncan

Councilmember Suzy Lord topped the four-candidate mayoral field with 5,155 votes (34.56%). Councilmember Robert "B.J." Duncan trailed by 285 votes, finishing at 4,870 (32.65%). Ricardo De Melo Gomes placed third with 4,262 votes (28.57%), and Clint Rodriguez received 630 (4.22%).

The Dec. 1 runoff winner replaces Mayor Tim Meerbott, who cannot seek re-election because of term limits. Both Lord and Duncan currently serve on the Cutler Bay Town Council.

What's next

The county elections department had received returns from every precinct as of Nov. 4, but the tallies are still unofficial until canvassing and certification are complete.

Cutler Bay voters return to the polls Tuesday, Dec. 1, to decide the mayor's race and Seat 1. Palmetto Bay holds its own runoffs the same day for mayor and Seat 3.
