Gulliver Prep's middle school athletes brought home three South Florida Middle School Conference (SFMSC) championships this fall. The Pinecrest school's boys golf team won its fifth straight title, and both swim squads swept the conference.

The school posted its fall sports recap on Nov. 3, capping a season in which the combined team grade average across all fall sports hit 92.22.

Boys golf locks up fifth straight crown

The boys golf team went 7-0 in the regular season, opening with a victory at the Westminster Scramble at Palmetto Golf Course over eight other teams. The Raiders then dominated the SFMSC Championships at Granada Golf Course, posting a top-four score of 151 and winning by 26 strokes to secure their fifth consecutive conference title.

The school also launched its inaugural middle school girls golf program this fall. Seven players in sixth through eighth grade spent the season developing their games alongside the upper school squad. The program has not yet entered interscholastic competition but plans to do so in coming years.

Swim teams sweep conference

Both the boys and girls swim teams won SFMSC championships, a first in Gulliver Prep history, according to the school. The girls completed an undefeated regular season and championship sweep. The boys climbed from early second- and third-place finishes during the regular season to capture first at the conference finals.

Both cross country squads reach state meet

The boys cross country team finished as SFMSC runner-up, paced by Sacha Casta, Jack Schainuck and Nico Hartowicz. The girls placed third, led by Stella Breidert, Gaby Sanders and Amaya Lau. Both teams qualified for the Middle School Cross Country State Championship, held Oct. 31 in Lakeland.

Volleyball, football round out the fall

The varsity volleyball squad, coached by Rioseco and Landsom, won five straight matches to claim the SFMSC Consolation title. The junior varsity team finished 6-5.

On the gridiron, the JV football team posted a 3-3-1 record, which the school called the program's best finish in recent years. Head Coach Diaz-Jane praised the players for their toughness, leadership and character. The 7/8th-grade squad, led by Coach Gordon, battled through injuries across a tough schedule.

That wraps the fall. Cheerleading head coach Celina Sosa, a Gulliver alum, now shifts her squad to supporting middle school boys and girls basketball for the winter season.
