The Legendary Wailers and Third World will play a free outdoor concert at Cutler Bay's Moss Center on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Backyard Bash, the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center's annual signature event, opens the venue's 2026-2027 season at 7 p.m. on the center's grounds along Black Creek. Tickets are free but required, and they go live on Thursday, Oct. 8, at MossCenter.org, with a limit of four per person. The box office number is 786-573-5300. The Moss Center is at 10950 SW 211 Street in Cutler Bay.

Junior Marvin, lead guitarist and vocalist of the Legendary Wailers, joined Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1977 and recorded on the Exodus album. He toured with Marley worldwide until Marley's death in 1981 and played on Kaya, Survival and Uprising. The band's set at the Moss Center is expected to include "Stir It Up," "Could You Be Loved" and "Three Little Birds," according to Community Newspapers.

The performance also marks the 50th anniversary of Rastaman Vibration, the 1976 album that brought reggae to a worldwide audience.

Nine-time Grammy-nominated Third World will join as special guest. The band, founded in Jamaica in 1973, built a reggae-fusion sound blending reggae with R&B, funk, pop and rock. Their Oct. 17 set is billed as a tribute to co-founder and guitarist Stephen "Cat" Coore, who died Jan. 18 at age 69. Coore served as Third World's musical director for more than 50 years and was awarded Jamaica's Order of Distinction for his contributions to the country's culture, the Jamaica Gleaner reported.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. Seating is not provided, and no outside food or drinks are allowed. Food and drink will be available for purchase on-site, including specialty cocktails from El Tequileno and bites from Bahama Mama Cuisine.

The Moss Center also hosts a free concert by the United States Marine Band on Friday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. Tickets for that show become available Thursday, Oct. 1, at MossCenter.org.
