Three Coral Reef Senior High School graduates will each receive $1,000 toward college this fall after the Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 10 South Dade seniors at a ceremony at the Villages of Homestead Clubhouse.

Ashton Gary, Samantha Garcia and Isaac Crissien were the Coral Reef recipients, making up the largest single-school contingent among the 10 winners. The program drew a record 21 applications for the 2026 cycle, according to the club's announcement published Monday.

FPL grant doubled the scholarship pool

The $10,000 pool was made possible in part by a $5,000 matching grant from Florida Power & Light, which served as the presenting sponsor. The club credited FPL's support for allowing it to award $1,000 to each of the 10 students.

Nearly 60 people, including parents, attended the recognition ceremony. Winners represented seven high schools across the Homestead and South Dade area.
