Three Hispanic Heritage Month events land in Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27. The lineup includes Venezuelan short films, a free concert by a Miami-based composer and a salsa-and-mariachi celebration with food trucks.

All three fall within a few miles of each other, and two are at the Deering Estate on Old Cutler Road.

Venezuelan short films screen at the Deering Estate

Six Venezuelan short films screen Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Deering Estate Visitor Center as part of the Miami Short Film Festival's Shorts & Beats series, South Dade Spotlight reported.

A cocktail reception starts at 7 p.m. The screening begins at 8 p.m., followed by a live performance from Susana Behar and Friends. Tickets are $45.

The Deering Estate Visitor Center is at 16701 SW 72nd Ave. in Palmetto Bay.

Salsa and mariachi fill Cutler Ridge Park

Cutler Bay's fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration runs Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200th St.

The free event features live salsa and mariachi bands, a DJ, food trucks and kids' activities, according to the event listing. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins and Baptist Health South Florida are sponsors.

Julio Roloff brings experimental sounds to Deering

Julio Roloff performs Sunday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. in the Deering Estate Theater.

The program spans acoustic, electroacoustic and computer music. Roloff will be joined by flutist Ana Roloff, trumpeter Stuart King, violinist Alfredo Triff and intermedia artist Gustavo Matamoros, according to the concert listing. Matamoros holds a residency supported by the Knight Arts Challenge at the Deering Estate and Florida International University's i360 XR Theater.

The concert is free, but an RSVP through Eventbrite is required.
