Coral Reef Branch Library has packed more than a dozen free programs into four days starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, covering everything from toddler storytime to naloxone training for adults.

All events listed below are free. Here's what's coming up, according to the Miami-Dade Public Library System's event calendar:

Wednesday, Aug. 19

  • Family Storytime, 10:30–11:30 a.m. Stories, songs and activities for children ages 3–5 and their families.
  • Ability Allies: Fun Without Limits, 5–6 p.m. A sensory-friendly social meetup for special-needs teens ages 16 and older and their families. Caregivers are encouraged to attend. The program recurs weekly on Wednesdays.

Thursday, Aug. 20

  • Nurturing Parenting Program for Children with Special Needs, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Part of a 12-week series giving parents and caregivers strategies to support children with special needs.
  • Money Skills for Real Life, 4:30–5:30 p.m., in the auditorium. Presented by the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center of Miami Dade College, the session covers budgeting and managing debt. Ages 16 and up.
  • Drug Overdose Prevention Training, 6:30–7:30 p.m. Presented by F Fentanyl Inc, the free training teaches participants to recognize signs of an opioid overdose and use naloxone (Narcan). Friday, Aug. 21

  • Dominó, Cubilete y Danzón – The Cafecito Club, 10–11 a.m. at Coral Reef Branch. A bilingual program (ages 8 and up) where neighbors play dominoes or cubilete while danzón music plays and cafecito is served.
  • Books by the Bay: Adult Book Club, 3 p.m. at Palmetto Bay Branch Library, 17641 Old Cutler Road, according to Patch's Palmetto Bay events listing.

Saturday, Aug. 22

Saturday brings a full slate at Coral Reef Branch:

  • Birding 101, 10–11:30 a.m. Presented by the Tropical Audubon Society, with an optional birding walk around the library grounds. All ages.
  • Furry Tales, 10:30–11:30 a.m. Children ages 3–8 read aloud to therapy dogs from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
  • Back to School Safari Day, 12:30–4 p.m. All ages.
  • Engineering on Wheels, 1–4 p.m. Presented by FIU's College of Engineering. All ages.
  • FDLRS-South information table, 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resource System provides support-service information for families of children with disabilities.

All Coral Reef Branch events take place at 9211 Coral Reef Drive, Miami 33157. The branch is open Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
