Cutler Bay Mayor Tim Meerbott will deliver his final State of the Town Address before leaving office Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay.
The annual event, themed "Small Town, Big Future," runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the dealership at 10701 SW 211th St. The town expects between 100 and 200 people to attend in person, according to its sponsorship packet.
Meerbott is termed out as mayor this year, and Cutler Bay voters will elect his successor Nov. 3.
Seating for the address is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents must RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 21, by emailing [email protected]. Complimentary valet parking will be available.
The State of the Town is an annual event where the mayor reviews the town's accomplishments, initiatives and upcoming projects for residents, businesses and community partners. A reception with live musical performances will follow the address, and attendees will have an opportunity to meet Meerbott and members of the Town Council.
The town has not released an advance agenda detailing what Meerbott will discuss this year. Its event page lists the date, venue and RSVP information but does not provide a preview of the address.
At the 2024 State of the Town, held Oct. 22, Meerbott highlighted the $1.5 billion redevelopment of Southland Mall, development of Legacy Park and the Municipal Complex and the town's acquisition of Coastal Ridge Preserve, an 8.5-acre conservation area.
Meerbott also highlighted a 34% increase in property values.
"A 34 percent increase in property values is amazing," Meerbott said during the 2024 address. "It just goes to show you the value that where we live has and is going to continue to have."
The 2025 State of the Town was held Dec. 9 at Town Hall, about a month after Cutler Bay celebrated the 20th anniversary of voters approving the town's charter on Nov. 8, 2005. This year's address returns to October and moves to Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay.
Meerbott has served as mayor since 2018 and was an original member of the Town Council after Cutler Bay's incorporation, serving from 2006 to 2010.
