PetSmart opened its newest South Florida location in Cutler Bay on Saturday, Oct. 3, filling a 15,000-square-foot space inside Southland Mall at 20505 S. Dixie Highway, Space #905.
The store soft-opened Friday, Oct. 2, after permit delays pushed back the original timeline, according to a LinkedIn post by a PetSmart district leader. PetSmart had initially announced a Sept. 26 grand opening date. The official celebration followed Oct. 3 instead.
Cutler Bay Council Member Richard Ramirez attended the Oct. 3 ribbon-cutting.
Store leader Albert Diaz said in a Sept. 21 press release that the team looked forward to becoming a trusted partner for pet families in Cutler Bay. He invited residents to visit the new location and highlighted the store's grooming, training and adoption services.
A full-service grooming salon is staffed by academy-trained, safety-certified stylists. The salon is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pet training classes are also available.
The store offers pet adoptions through PetSmart Charities and local animal welfare organizations. PetSmart says the program has helped more than 11 million pets find homes nationwide.
Southland Mall, an enclosed shopping center with nearly 100 stores along U.S. 1, is the anchor for the new PetSmart. The store's general hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and it can be reached at (305) 842-5330. More information is available on PetSmart's store page.
Grand opening goodie bags handed out Oct. 3 included a $10 gift card, a pet bandana, toys and coupons. PetSmart is planning special celebrations every Saturday throughout October at the Cutler Bay location.
